Paint Tacoma Pierce Beautiful
Job: Paint Crew
Description: Paint the house of a low-income senior or low-income person with a disability. Crews from businesses, service clubs, churches, unions, schools, families, or groups of friends can adopt a house, painting it from start to finish (generally 3-4 work parties), or individuals can join a crew that’s already formed.

Job: Support Team
Description: Volunteer teams of two to five people are matched with families in transition from welfare to work, teams offer mentoring and friendship, along with practical assistance such as employment coaching, budgeting and household management. Training and ongoing support provided.

Timeline: Ongoing—we hope each team can make six months to a year commitment. The responsibility and time commitment will be shared among all the team members.
Job: Family Aid
Description: There are several opportunities to help numerous families throughout Pierce County all year through. Adopt a family at Christmas time, assist with the Christmas giveaway, collect donations of school supplies for low income families, or assist with the school supply giveaway.

Project Interdependence
Pierce County Hunger Walk
Job: Event Volunteer
Description: Individuals and groups are needed to help with various aspects of the walk from marking the route the day before, to setting up booths and helping with registration, working in booths, to assisting with clean-up following the walk.

South Sound Peace and Justice Center
Job: Camp Counselor
Description: Puget Sound Interfaith Youth Camp (for youth going into the 7th & 8th & 9th grades); Visit www.soundinterfaithcamp.org. Ages 18-24, intimate knowledge of and/or affiliation with a faith/religious tradition. Previous camp counseling and experience with this age group a plus.

Description:> For youth camp with up to 50 campers; Visit www.soundinterfaithcamp.org. At a minimum, this position requires an RN or LPN; experience with this age group a plus. Duties to include dispensing medications and possibly providing emergency first aid.

Domestic Violence Program
Job: Chaplain Volunteer – Crystal Judson Family Justice Center
Description: Domestic Violence is a dramatic problem in our city and around our country. For the past few years Associated Ministries has been working closely with the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center, the one-stop shop where victims of domestic violence can go to have their needs met. Thanks to a very dedicated core of volunteers we have been providing chaplaincy services to these clients but we need more volunteers to meet the needs of people coping with the impact of domestic violence in their lives.
In order to be a chaplain at the Family Justice Center you must participate in a 2 ½ hour training as well as being approved by the trainers as qualified to serve as a chaplain. There is also a 1 hour orientation which includes a criminal background check. You do not have to be an ordained clergy member to be a chaplain with Associated Ministries Domestic Violence Program.
You will be helping families that are coping with major crises in their lives. Surveys that have been taken indicate that upwards of 80% of domestic violence clients will seek out the services of a chaplain. These people need your assistance and we’re asking you to make a minimum commitment of only 3-4 hours per month.

Pierce County Asset Building Coalition
Job: Tax Preparer
Description: Volunteer preparers will prepare tax forms and answer tax questions, inform qualifying taxpayers about the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, and file returns electronically for a quick turnaround on refunds. Training and certification from the IRS is provided as self-study or in a classroom setting.

Open Hearth Ministries
Job: Oncall Intake Assistant
Description: Based in East Pierce County – Puyallup/Sumner/Bonney Lake. Help homeless families find shelter and services for their basic needs. Volunteers will be issued a pager and be on call to assist families in need. Training is required as you will be doing intakes and helping secure resources.

Associated Ministries General
Job: Auction Volunteer
Description: Individuals are needed in several different capacities –
• Auction committee members assist in shaping the event, procuring items, securing sponsorships, etc.
• Help needed with copying print material, stuffing envelopes, and help with mailings
• Set-up volunteers are needed the day before and day of preceding the event
• Night-of volunteers are needed in several roles during the auction from the registration to the bank
• Clean-up volunteers are needed following the event

Description: Associated Ministries is a local, regional organizational that tries its best to stay in touch with the people around us. Our donors and supporters are at the core of who we are and are due a well-deserved THANK YOU. Help make homemade thank you cards on a day or weekend when you have some time. Great opportunity for scrapbookers, youth groups, Sunday schoolers, families, and folks in need of a creative outlet. You supply the help, we have the supplies.

Description: Several of the smaller programs without directors need grant monies in order to build their capacity. Welcoming anyone with grant writing experience or strong writing skills interested in the field.
