Unites all faiths in thanksgiving for the blessings of life
Associated Ministries’ Annual Thanksgiving Interfaith Services has been a cherished tradition for parishioners in Tacoma- Pierce County for more than 25 years, bringing people together from many different faiths to worship and give thanks for our many blessings.
This year’s service will be held Tuesday evening, Nov. 22, starting at 7 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in North Tacoma, followed by a fellowship reception. All faiths, denominations and congregations are welcome to attend.
The service will weave together more than ten faith traditions, helping those in attendance to reflect on giving thanks. The service will incorporate the six elements identified in the book titled, Spirituality of Imperfection. The six elements include: release, gratitude, humility, hospitality, forgiveness and community. They have been grouped into three distinct sections: Release and Gratitude, Humility and Hospitality and Forgiveness and Come-Unity. In each of the three sections there will be a song, ritual or practice of a specific faith tradition and a poem, reflection or prayer. These will not necessarily be from the same faith tradition so in each section, one might experience three different faith traditions. At the beginning of the evening, the various faith traditions represented will light the traditional candles.
Though these times have been difficult, and in some cases, devastating for many families, we have more reason than ever to come together in unity, pray for those who need our love and support, to give thanks for all the blessings of life, and for the knowledge that our God will provide for those who believe in Him.
The offering during the evening will benefit the family emergency fund of Associated Ministries, which helps provide warm beds and housing to homeless individuals and families during cold weather. A reception will follow the service. For more information, please contact Associated Ministries, SandyW@associatedministries.org, or call 253-426-1506.
