School Supply Giveaway
Families struggling just to make ends meet often find it difficult to equip their children with essential school supplies. Each summer, PIP helps low-income families prepare their children for school by distributing school supplies donated by congregations, businesses and individuals.
Help a family move from welfare to work
Associated Ministries’ Project Interdependence program moves families from dependency on public assistance to self-sufficiency through employment. The program serves low-income persons, single women with children who face a variety of barriers to employment; individuals with permanent disability; the working poor and the recently unemployed. Services include case management, mentorship, referrals, protective payee services, emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing, mail service for the homeless, energy assistance, and emergency funds for unique situations. Public benefits become more accessible through Associated Ministries' Community Connections Resource Center
Associated Ministries launched a new program in partnership with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) called the Community Connections Resource Center. The center simplifies and centralizes the application process for those seeking many state benefits, including: Basic Food Program; Working Connections Child Care; Medical Assistance Programs; ADATSA for drug and alcohol treatment; and Cash Benefits,TANF WorkFirst program, and General Assistance Unemployable (GAU) programs.
Staff will identify client needs, facilitate the application process and make referrals to other needed services, such as job training programs, parenting support, job hunting skills, high school completion or GED programs, telephone assistant programs and much more.
Distribution of Refurbished Bicycles
In partnership with the Clover Park Kiwanis, PIP is able to offer bicycles to children in need.
Distribution of Thanksgiving Baskets
In partnership with volunteers of the Gig Harbor Basket Brigade, PIP is able to provide Thanksgiving dinners for families who might otherwise be unable to have a good holiday meal.
Christmas Toy Giveaway
Project Interdependence is collecting new, unwrapped toys for our annual Christmas Toy Giveaway which provides toys for low-income children who have not received help from other resources in the community. Toys are needed for all ages (birth-18 yrs). If you would like to donate toys, please feel free to drop them off at Associated Ministries, 1224 South I Street, Tacoma WA 98405 during our regular business hours, 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., with our receptionist preferably before December 11. Adopt a Family at Christmas
Project Interdependence is seeking donors for our Adopt a Family program which provides gifts to low-income children. This is a great opportunity to gather friends together to shop, wrap, deliver toys and make a child's Christmas extra special.
