Understanding Capacity Building

Participating Faith and Community Based Organizations (F&CBO's) will design capacity building plans that address at least two types of capacity building areas:

1._____Program Design and Development -- includes items such as curriculum development, program monitoring and/or evaluation of program outcomes

In addition each organization can choose at least one of the following to include in their proposal...

2.____ Leadership Development -- board composition and function, staff professional and career development, training and development of volunteers, succession planning.

3.____Organizational Infrastructure -- board governance, written policies and procedures, fiscal controls, comprehensive communications strategy, nonprofit Incorporation, grant writing training, systems: management, human resources, financial, information technology, planning.

4.____Community Engagement -- community asset mapping, community needs assessment, community outreach.

 

Requirements for Participating F&CBO's

Participating F&CBO’s in the capacity building program will agree to the following requirements:

  • Attend and participate in all training workshops;

  • Actively engaged to seek the most from technical assistance;

  • Utilize sub-award grant dollars for capacity building only; and

  • Provide timely regular program and financial reports.

Funds May Not Be Used For:

  • Organized fundraising or solicitation;

  • Direct services;

  • Public policy advocacy;

  • Medical/Health-related activities or items;

  • Purchase of real property, or construction costs;

  • Inherently religious activities like religious instruction, worship, evangelism, or proselytizing; and

  • May not be re-awarded to another beneficiary.
