Helping Families Transition

From Welfare to Work

Project Interdependence

Our Mission

Project Interdependence (PIP) strives to create and maintain support networks for families moving from dependence on welfare to self-sufficiency through employment.  PIP’s mission is to help bridge the gap between WorkFirst participants and the rest of the community, in the belief that by weaving the strands of community together, families become stronger and more able to achieve successful, interdependent lives in the transition from welfare to work.

Project Interdependence’s services to low-income families and individuals include: Mentoring, Payee Services, Intensive Case Management, Resource Referrals, Mail Service for Homeless, Associated Ministries’ Family Emergency Fund.

What is Project Interdependence?

• A collaborative effort between the community and the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).

• A project to provide a support network for eligible participants of the WorkFirst program.

• The goal is to provide a team of volunteers who build caring and supportive relationships with individuals and families transitioning from welfare to work.

• The project will establish a network of resources to assist participants in securing and sustaining employment.
